Why we stop taking care of ourselves
and how to create a new strategy for a better life
Prioritizing yourself puts you on a path of growth. It’s not just about taking time off, a bubble bath, or a vacation. That nagging feeling you get sometimes is the deepest part of you screaming that there is more to life than work and family. That there is something wrong!!
Besides prioritizing for the sake of rest and rejuvenation, there is a person you need to build a relationship with, and that person is you. Prioritizing yourself is about your relationship with yourself. But it’s also the best thing you can do for those you love. Ironically, not prioritizing is defeating all your selfless efforts. Every time you skip yourself, you become less productive in giving to those you care about most.
So, how much do you believe in your abilities? Those who believe in themselves always prioritize, lest they crash and burn, lest they are not the superstars they were born to be. It’s the value you put on you compared to everything around you. It’s your journey. And without it, you get lost in the troubles of those you care for! You eventually can’t see or feel your own needs, instincts, and wisdom.
Here’s the story you tell yourself: you’re a champion in one way or another. Your better-self sacrifices your needs for others; someone else’s success is more important than your own—your spouse’s perhaps. One day, you will ensure the safe delivery of your own needs and successes. You tell yourself that you might do something on the side to appease your inner self, like writing a novel in your spare time, slowly, but surely. Until then, you’re going to be a champion who will give up everything.
I see it over and over: a life story is turned into an allegory, sacrifices become martyred history, and sainthood hangs on the wall in a cheap frame. Can you even imagine what that frame will be worth down the road? Who actually wins?
I can tell you from first-hand experience, that when you give too much without prioritizing yourself you end up the pitied, second best, and underestimated member of your family or career group. It doesn’t matter how much you’re loved, or how brilliant and amazing of a person you might be. Down the road, you will not feel equal. That alone is reason enough to prioritize yourself! Because you are equal and worth it.
IT’S THIS EASY TO KNOW THE TRUTH—DO YOU PRIORITIZE RIGHT?
The World Health Organization reported a global mental health crisis. They define burnout and stress as an occupational risk and a widespread workplace condition. The pressure to balance career and home is causing overwhelming exhaustion. Research now presses with different types of cognitive restructuring/reframing: which simply means learning how to practice prioritizing yourself for better self- care.
In this course, prioritizing yourself comprises much more than taking a bubble bath. This is a comprehensive course and journey of self- discovery. It’s about understanding the dept of codependency, love, and self-esteem, which is at the root of failing to practice self-care.
Imagine that you’re that person or role you admire. (It might, for instance, be an author, Michelle Obama, Bill Gates, or your neighbor who runs her own business.) If they were living your life, what would they do differently?
The people we admire reinforce their identity as the person you know them to be on a daily basis. They prioritize themselves: otherwise they wouldn’t be who they are.
Prioritization doesn’t mean being selfish or self-centered. On the contrary, it’s self-care, a critical component for everything we do in our lives. It’s the inclusive prosperity we all seek.
It’s tough to master– but without it, we never reach our potential.
If you’re someone who doesn’t practice self-care as you should, this can demonstrate your strong sense of values and love of serving others, but it can also link into a deeper martyr complex or sense of unworthiness. And crawling out of that hole will enable you to feel things you might not have felt in a long time.
COURSE CONTENT & STRUCTURE
The beginning of this course explores the science that underpins your personal psychology and practical strategies to plan out your present and future. It concludes with advice on how to maintain success with continued growth, plus insight into the potential conflicts that are sometimes responsible for our lack of prioritization.
Not practicing self-care is a mismanagement of your time, and it’s intertwined with your personal psychology. We’ll dive deep into our reflective beliefs about ourselves and the cultural/general backgrounds that influence our choices.
WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
Everyone. The need to practice self-care is consistent across life’s domains affecting everyone similarly regardless of who we are or what we do. In other words, you can be a single mom in New York or the ambassador to a foreign country and the concept would apply to both.
It will help prioritize your entire life! And this can mean anything from your career, to your love life, to your relationships, to your home and family, to your love of gardening, to coding that new project, to writing a novel, and so on. It can mean going to the moon for that matter. But it starts deep inside. The Prioritizing Yourself Course will benefit you whether you are single or have a family, whether you work outside the home or are a stay-at-home mom. It will benefit you if you’re a high school graduate who is wanting to plan college, so you’re moving out of the nest, but your mom can’t stop crying.
Welcome to a life changing event.
With enormous love,
Efrona
