When we are falling in love, we have a variety of physical and emotional responses—racing hearts, sweaty palms, passionate feelings, flushed cheeks, and anxiety. We fall in love and in the early stages of love, the stress hormone cortisol rises like soldiers preparing for war to cope with the stress.
And in the process, the tress hormone cortisol increase and the neurotransmitter serotonin, which regulate anxiety, happiness, and mood are depleted. Low levels of serotonin precipitate the obsessive-compulsive behaviors associated with infatuation. Meaning, love, and passion initially can be stressful! It explains why we act all wrong around those we truly love!
I think the vast majority of problems around “feeling love” is surrounded by the fear of being vulnerable. Love makes you whole, but to really feel and see it, one must be to some degree vulnerable.
